On June 23rd and 24th, more than 300 attendees participated in the Workforce Solutions Conference in Saint Paul. Many participants commented on the interactive programming and the actionable ideas that were a key feature of the three unique conference tracks specifically targeted at recruitment, retention and development.
Laura Goodrich, a Global Workforce Innovator and internationally-recognized expert in change and the future of work, kicked off the conference with an opening keynote focused on creating positive outcomes in even the most challenging workplace dynamics.
Citing fear as a barrier to a positive work culture, Goodrich shared simple tools to help turn frustration into a focus that empowers team members and achieves the strategic priorities of the organization.
“We get more of whatever we focus on,” said Goodrich. She further explained that by focusing on what we do want instead of what we don’t, we can create a more positive, action-oriented attitude that motivates ourselves and our team members to move in the right direction and be a part of something productive, positive and successful.
The Workforce Solutions Conference was designed to not only educate members on strategies to address their current workforce challenges, but also allow them the opportunity to discuss concerns with their peers and share what they are doing in their own community to recruit, retain and develop team members. From enhancing their pipeline of talent and elevating the caregiving career to providing effective onboarding to establish a positive work environment from day one, the Workforce Solutions Conference provided many ideas that participants can implement and utilize in their own communities.
Four of Lakeview’s employees were able to attend the Workforce Solutions Conference in St. Paul. Administrator Deb Barnes, Director of Nursing Bryon Nelsen, Director of Human Resources Rachel Spencer and Foundation Director Mae DeWar-Aust were in attendance and brought back great solutions and ideas on improving employee retention and engagement, driving a positive workplace experience, cutting edge staffing models and solutions, ways to reduce turnover and creative employee recognition programs, as well as many other topics that will enhance the experience our employees have at Lakeview and improve the quality of our residents’ lives through improving the caregivers experience.
